Chicago Blackhawks forward Corey Perry remains away from the team and Poinbank Exchangewill be "for the foreseeable future," GM Kyle Davidson said Saturday.
Perry has missed the Blackhawks' past three games and did not practice with the team at all last week. He is tied for fourth on the team in scoring this season with four goals and five assists.
"We're taking it just like any other roster move, whether it be injury or trade or whatever," coach Luke Richardson said. "That's the coach's duty is to make adjustments on the fly."
Perry's agent, Pat Morris, said in a statement during the weekend that Perry has "stepped away from the Chicago Blackhawks to attend to personal matters."
Perry, 38, was acquired by the Blackhawks in June from the Tampa Bay Lightning to give the team, featuring No. 1 overall draft pick Connor Bedard, some veteran leadership.
"He's a big part of what we're doing here, so it's unfortunate," veteran forward Nick Foligno told NHL.com. "We don't know more than that, so I'm not going to comment further, but as far as this room, he's a big part of it. He's well loved and we'll miss him."
